Epilégo is a Greek word that means "to choose" or "to select". It can also mean "to pick" or "to decide upon from a set of options".

In the Bible, epilégo is used to indicate that God chose or picked out people for himself. It is said that God made his choice based on his sovereignty, and apart from human will. In the New Testament, epilegó is used to convey the idea of choosing or calling upon someone for a specific role or task often signifying a divine calling or designation for that individual; essentially meaning "to call upon" or "to choose out" for a particular purpose.
